The Quran on Human Emryonic Development
ALLAH has supported His last Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) with many miracles and much evidence which proves that he is a true Prophet (peace be upon him) sent by ALLAH. Also, ALLAH has supported His last revealed book, the Holy Qur’an, with many miracles that prove that this Qur’an is the
literal word of ALLAH, revealed by Him, and that it was not authored by any human being.
Literally, the Arabic word alaqah has three meanings:
(1) leech, (2) suspended thing, and (3) blood clot.
In comparing a leech to an embryo in the alaqah stage, we find similarity between the two,2 as we can see in figure 1. Also, the embryo at this stage obtains nourishment from the blood of the mother, similar to the leech, which feeds on the blood of others.3

Al Quran
SURA 23. Muminun, or The Believers
12. Man We did create from a quintessence [of clay];
13. Then We placed him as [a drop of] sperm in a place of rest, firmly fixed;
14. Then We made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood; then of that clot We made a [foetus] lump; then we made out of that lump bones and clothed the bones with flesh; then we developed out of it another creature. So blessed be ALLAH, the best to create!
